“Would you like to participate in an artistic experience at your Artistic Composition
Seminar 2?”
This question and the object were posed to 44 senior students at the Institute for
Contemporary Art, Department for Architecture, Graz University of Technology.
They were allowed to work, interpret, associate and analyse freely and independently.
Some worked individually with the object in question and others in smaller groups.
All Architecture students worked on the spatial means and the meaning implemented in/by
the object, discussing space, the interlayer between spatial-architectural understanding
and art, using the object as architectural mean and sharing one’s everyday and private
interests with it.
The media results went from baking and distributing cookies to concrete cast elements,
photographical sessions and video screenings to organic compositional research.
