4 of May: it’s still changing of course, it’s going wild in a way. Usually this kind of grass is cut after a while, so it would look nice and tidy. This doesn’t, couldn’t even, because there is nothing I do about it. I just see it grow.

23rd of April: how come grass doesn’t grow straight up? it does in the first place. but then? it’s looking for the sun. It doesn’t like heavy rain, okay, let’s say too much water.
so the whole thing is not just about a form, made of steel, some mould and some seeds, add a little water and that’s it – no, the sun is in, too. So what if this experience was made in winter? Would it look the same? I doubt it.

Part of the idea is, that you cannot see everything but that doesn’t mean it’s not there. The experience this form made by travelling around the world is existing, though you cannot see it by looking at the form today…..only at night

After five days (there are no pictures about the first three days) some seeds decided to become grass. Amazing. now time has a different dimension again. It seems to be real fast that the grass grew.

It surprises me every day. How come the flowers grow and the grass doesn’t? And what kind of flowers are they?

Communication, Interaction – this is a big part of the experience. In this case the growing landscape on the ground starts communicating with the painted landscape (“Bleicherhof”, 2004, by Nina Kluth) up on the wall. I guess there will be more and more similarities the stronger the grass will grow. Especially in color. We’ll see.

It’s real. You cannot leave it alone. It needs watering, applause, caring. It’s a working process. this is part of the experience as well. It changes everytime, but it needs interaction to do so.

From the outside nothing happened. It’s still an industrial form, some stains. No grass. Who tells you that there is or will be any grass ever?

Somehow nature becomes art by watching it. This picture of the seeds and the mould remindds you of a painting, well structured, colors, brush strokes, light nothing else. And it’s photography of a landscape as well. Within the form.

Will it grow? Really? Those questions are part of the idea of this experience. We are not used to this slowness. We are used to speed, time pressure, quick decisions. Things like that have a great importance in every days life. So time means a lot. How could any one waste so much time by waiting for the seeds to develop and become grass? Is’t that stupid?
Well I’d say, what comes out is nature – so how could it be stupid. And…there is motion every second. Only because we cannot see everything, that doesn’t mean that nothing changes.

Something is happening. First green on grey floor. Well I think there are some summer flowers in the form as well – this is no grass.

day three, 15th of April
I put garden mould in the form. A lot – about 30 or 40 litres. After that, grass seeds followed.
The whole idea is to build a different kind of landscape, not by painting or other. But by really letting something grow. Letting it grow in Ricardos form gives the seeds and the grass a different meanign. It becomes art on the one hand. On the other hand, the form becomes something normal, something you use in everydays life again. So the “real world” starts communicating with the “art World” – with the piece, that usually is presented in a museum.
Also this experience is about time. About how it feels like to wait. There will be more to say about all of this later on.
